The Route

Island Mljet
Start the day heading south toward Mljet — Croatia's greenest island. Visit Odysseus's Cave, swim in emerald-clear water, and walk briefly through the national park forest.

Island Mljet: Home to a 5th-century Roman imperial palace at Polače and a 12th-century Benedictine monastery island (St. Mary's), active for 700 years until 1869. The ancient name Melita (Honey Island) fuels a long scholarly debate: was this, not Malta, where St. Paul was shipwrecked in 60 AD?

Elafiti Islands
On the return leg, the boat threads through the Elafiti archipelago — Šipan, Lopud, Koločep — stopping at hidden coves. Šipan offers Gothic-Renaissance noble villas; Lopud its Franciscan monastery and Šunj beach; Koločep its ancient olive groves and Roman ruins.

Elafiti Islands: Koločep hides Roman-era ruins and a medieval church. Lopud's extraordinary 15th-century Franciscan monastery and Ragusan noble villas tell of a time when this island rivalled Dubrovnik in wealth. Šipan holds Gothic-Renaissance palaces and a rector's villa at Suđurađ — among the finest rural Renaissance architecture on the Adriatic coast.

Bowa Beach Restaurant
Before the return to Dubrovnik, anchor at Bowa — hidden in Vrbova Bay on Šipan, accessible only by boat. The Šare family's sustainable beach restaurant serves the freshest Adriatic fish, Mali Ston oysters, and vegetables grown on the island itself, in an open-air setting of carob, fig, and olive trees above a private beach. One of the finest lunches on the entire Dalmatian coast.
