Highlight of our Dalmatia trip — stunning all the way

I planned this as a surprise for my travel companion and it could not have gone better. Our skipper was waiting at the harbour with a cold bottle of rosé on ice and a route planned that took in the best of the central Dalmatian coast. We stopped twice — once for a swim in a completely clear bay where we could see the sandy bottom fifteen metres below, and once to walk through the ruins of a Roman villa on a tiny island that had about twelve permanent residents. Arrived in Dubrovnik via the sea gate with the old harbour walls above us, feeling like we had arrived somewhere truly ancient. Genuinely the finest travel experience of a trip full of very good ones.
