Mljet's human story is as layered as its landscape. Polače harbour hides one of Dalmatia's most remarkable Roman sites: the ruins of a 5th-century imperial palace, with towers, basilica, and harbour walls you can walk through in five minutes and barely see another person. St. Mary's Island in the middle of the saltwater lake hosts a 12th-century Benedictine monastery that shaped the island's landscape for 700 years, planting its forests and maintaining its paths, until 1869. The island's ancient name, Melita (Honey Island), has long fuelled debate among scholars: was this — not Malta — where St. Paul was shipwrecked in 60 AD? The island doesn't seem to mind.

    Skipper will introduce himself to you and give you basic facts about the boat, current weather conditions, and safety instructions. On the navigation route, you will pass Dubrovnik and Elaphite Islands. There is the possibility to choose to stop on one of the Elaphite Islands, for swimming, snorkeling, or a short break or either to go directly to the Mljet.  National Park Mljet is distanced around 40 nautical miles from Dubrovnik, it takes around 2 hours to get there skipper will recommend you the most convenient route and the possibility of short breaks considering weather and sea conditions for a voyage to Mljet

    Arrive on island Mljet, tour of lakes inside National Park

    Big (croatian: Veliko) and Small lake (croatian: Malo Jezero) are the names of the two saltwater lakes that are located within the Mljet National Park (Large and Small Lake). Around 4 kilometers can be covered by the Lakes region. It is prohibited to bring a boat or drive a car into the park, and motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited. Children younger than 7 years old are admitted free of charge, while adults are required to pay an admission fee of 100 kunas, which is equivalent to 15 euros. Teenagers aged 7 to 18 years old are eligible for a discount of 50 percent. You can purchase tickets in Polache; the boat voyage to St. Mary Island costs an additional 20 kuna and takes 15 minutes. You are free to get off and back on the boat at any time; however, the boat only departs from Pristaniste once per hour. The Church of St. Mary on the Isle of St. Mary is the oldest church in Dalmatia that is still surviving. You can take a quick stop at the restaurant, where there is also a boat rental service, and then proceed to the smaller lake. Walking, cycling, swimming, snorkeling (you may borrow snorkeling gear from the boat), and paddling are all possible activities within lakes. It is suggested that you spend between two and three hours exploring the beauties of the lakes; make sure to let the skipper know when you will be returning to the boat or if there are any other requirements (restaurant booking, bicycle rent etc...).

    Free time for lunch

    If you are someone who enjoys fish and other types of seafood, you should make it a priority after visiting National Park with lakes  on the island of Mljet to dine at one of the local restaurants that is waterfront located. Lobsters, sea bass, octopus, and mussels can be served in a variety of ways, including just grilling them, turning them into stews or soups, or preparing them in a variety of other ways.

  5. Step 5

    - Returning back to the Dubrovnik via Elafiti islands

    In the afternoon, after lunch or your free time, you can return back to Dubrovnik via the Elaphites Islands. The rest of the time on the trip can be spent relaxing on the boat, swimming or snorkeling, or simply enjoying the sea and the sun. In the event that you have not yet explored the caves (Blue and Green on island Kolocep), you and the captain of the boat might make arrangements to use this time so that you can explore these natural attractions in the afternoon on your way back to Dubrovnik from Island Mljet.

    Return back to your hotel

What is a difference between your boat classes (medium, high, executive, luxury)

At first, the difference is in the size of the boat, which represents how many people feel comfortable on such a boat to enjoy the sea. Then, if you are not already familiar, the ships have different equipment and designs. 

Most medium-class boats are with outboard motors up to 6.5 meters long. Then come high-class boats with inboard engines, which is not necessarily the case. The biggest difference between medium and high-class boats is in the equipment and design. The high-class speedboat is mostly sporty and recommended for up to 4 people, while the medium class is recommended for 2 people.

Executive boats are 8-9 meters in size, newer years with outboard or inboard engines, but all have toilets. In the Executive class of boats, we are talking about luxury speedboats of recent years with a lot of equipment and an attractive appearance.

Motor yachts are 9 - 11 meters long, with a saloon, flybridge, kitchen, and stern for swimming. Executive motor yachts are 11 - 14 meters long, but more recently built.

Luxury yachts are a story by themselves, this is really about great luxury for people who demand such a service.

In April / October / November boat tours really depends on the water conditions. In case the tour can't be done due to weather conditions we will always either issue a full refund or try to postpone the tour to the next day.

  • Medium-class boats are not equipped with toilets. 
  • Some of the high-class category speed boats have toilets. 
  • All executive-class speedboats have toilets and some have bathrooms also.

How much does a private boat or yacht tour from Dubrovnik cost?

The price depends on the selected route, tour duration, boat or yacht class, group size, season, fuel requirements and any optional services such as lunch, transfers, guides or special arrangements.

Shorter Dubrovnik boat tours usually have a different price structure than full-day private yacht routes or cross-border experiences such as Dubrovnik to Montenegro. For tailor-made routes, we confirm the final price in the personalized offer before booking.

Do we only cruise by boat, or can we also stop ashore?

Both options are possible on most private boat and yacht tours. Some guests prefer a relaxed panorama cruise with swimming stops, while others want time ashore for sightseeing, lunch or a short walk in a coastal town.

Stops ashore depend on the selected destination, local docking options, weather, sea conditions and the total tour duration. The captain and operations team will help shape a realistic route for the time available.
